My niece plays in the WPBL — the first women’s pro baseball league in over 70 years. Watching her take the field got me thinking: nobody’s really dug into the data yet. No established stat models, no biomechanics baselines, nothing.
So I opened it up. Short papers on data in the WPBL’s first season — analytics, stuff+ modeling, biomechanics, social media, whatever people want to dig into. No prize money, just publication here and a certificate for the winners, published during the playoffs.
Full details, topics, and how to submit are here: Call for Papers: Data & the WPBL’s First Season
Submissions due August 30. If you know a student or aspiring analyst who’d want a real portfolio piece, send them this way.
